Paper Bullets is a story about a lesbian couple resisting Nazi occupation in their home. This review focuses on just how they resisted and the more hidden elements of World War Two history.

And the Band Played on by Randy Shilts is a near day by day recount of the beginning of the AIDS crisis. Shilts was one of the few journalists who followed AIDS’s progress from the moment it was recognized as a dangerous disease. This book covers the background struggles doctors and gay activists faced in order to achieve any progress with the disease, the government, and each other.

Gay Bar by Jeremy Atherton Lin is an excellent read for anyone interested in why bars are so important to the queer community.
