An update on our progress with the interactive bar map and a fun opportunity for Pride Month!

By Al Preston Sometimes when I’m driving around the city, I like finding new routes and don’t mind it too much if I make a wrong turn. Pittsburgh’s roads are convoluted and twisting but they are also pretty forgiving when someone makes a mistake. I do love finding new weird roads and paths when I drive. The Well of Loneliness by Radclyff Hall is a relatively famous novel about lesbians from the 1920s. Many LGBT+ activists have read this book and talked fondly about it.

Many times, meeting one person can lead to meeting many others. We were able to speak to Clare Joyce, thanks to a previously made connection. We manage to talk about a lot of issues younger queer folk are facing.

Sassy Planet is a global guide to queerness in big cities. hidden gems and unexpected locations. They cover 40 cities across the world, including Pittsburgh!

Talking about how Tom Wilson came to be interviewed by Al. His Oral History began to shape the Quiet Pittsburgh Oral History project.

October was busy for the Holiday Pride! Here's a summary of what we did.

Real Queer America by Samantha Allen is a look at the most conservative states in the United States and showcasing their queer oasises. Places where queerness has fought and won a right to exist.

Paris is Burning is a classic piece of research for many queer academics. It showcases the lives of Drag Queens in New York from 1978 to 1989.

The Mayor of Castro Street by Randy Shilts is about Harvy Milk, the first elected openly gay offical in California. Shilts describes Milk's inspiring life and tragic death.
