Part 2 of our discussion around a 'collective queer identity' or 'culture' that can be seen within the words written by LGBT+ folks.

Over the decades, as LGBT+ folks have written more and more about themselves and their experiences, authors have wondered if there is a collective queer identity. We've decided to take a stab at the question!

Fried Green Tomatoes was more than a 1991 movie. It was also a 1987 novel that the movie was based off of. We take a look at both and see what stayed and what changed.

The Mammoth Book of Gay Short Stories edited by Peter Burton contains 47 short stories by and for gay men. Here, we'll only talk about 8!

Fanfiction has been the past time for fans of just about every kind of media for a long time. Recently, it has become a sensation to the wider public, for queer fans, it has been a key part of their internet life.

Behind the Screen: How Gays and Lesbians Shaped Hollywood explores the lives and work of the LGBT+ people behind Hollywood's most successful films. The LGBT+ writers, directors, actors, set designers, costumers, editors, and prop makers who made Hollywood what it is today.

How did Pride 2026 fair? Pretty well! We went to two events with plans for the future!

The Price of Salt is a lesbian novel by Patricia Highsmith from the 1950s. Unlike many of the other lesbian stories of the time, this book had a happy ending.

The Well of Loneliness by Radclyff Hall is a relatively famous novel about lesbians from the 1920s. Many LGBT+ activists have read this book and talked fondly about it.

Many times, meeting one person can lead to meeting many others. We were able to speak to Clare Joyce, thanks to a previously made connection. We manage to talk about a lot of issues younger queer folk are facing.

The Gay Book of Lists is exactly as is written. A book of lists that involve gayness in many ways!

Bathhouses have been just as fundimental to the queer community just as much as bars. They're locations where people could be social, learn about their community, and organize activism.

Sassy Planet is a global guide to queerness in big cities. hidden gems and unexpected locations. They cover 40 cities across the world, including Pittsburgh!

'Gayborhoods' are a common sight in many cities. Not in Pittsburgh, however. Philadelphia, on the other hand, has it's own well known gayborhood. What makes a gayborhood and what makes a spread out community?
